Dr. Michael Cohen

Dr. Michael Cohen earned his medical degree at the University of Utrecht, in the Netherlands. He completed postdoctoral research and training at the National Institutes of Health in the field of pharmacology.  He has worked in the medical-legal field for over thirty years, and has assisted council with representation of numerous clients of various backgrounds–in deciphering complex medical and pharmaceutical negligence. Dr. Cohen has acted as Medical and Scientific Director to victims of mass torts as well. His clients included 300 orphan, children who suffered an explosive decompression when they departed Vietnam on April 4, 1975. Dr. Cohen was also scientific director to the evaluation of  the victims of the Kepone environmental disaster against Allied Chemical Corporation. Dr. Cohen has experience assisting council through all stages of litigation  including jury  selection and trial. He has evaluated more than a thousand cases and participated in more than 450 trials and settlements. His clients have come from all aspects and backgrounds of either pharmacological and medical specialties. Dr. Cohen has developed various medical ethical drugs and holds significant patents in the fields of cancer prevention and treatment. Dr. Cohen does not appear as an expert  witness himself but rather obtains the services of top MDs and PhDs to assist and determine whether the client’s treatment met the standard of care and evaluate the nature and prognosis of the clients. Dr. Cohen has then assisted attorneys in presenting the medical evidence to the court, resulting in verdicts that an attorney working alone would find difficult to achieve. Dr. Cohen holds more than 15 patents in novel pharmaceutical products. He has extensive knowledge and experience in Drug Development and has worked with the USFDA guiding his products through the Regulatory Process. Also in front of the EMEA the Regulatory Agency in Europe. Dr. Cohen has also worked on cases involving complex Regulatory issues as well as patent issues.
